ECO Statement

Slavery and Child Labour Policy

Cookie Policy

From the start, we were ‘ECO friendly' and ‘Green’ long before either became fashionable. There's no PCBs in our PCBs - we don’t wash – that’s not to reduce our shower gel costs, but to eliminate all e-waste.  There’s no lead, cadmium, chromium, brominated flame retardants or polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in any of our waste.  Everything that can be recycled is.  In fact, our total industrial manufacturing waste is less than that of an average household - and we’re working on reducing even that.

Whilst electronics is a global industry, and we have no option but to source the best components from across the globe, we support our local community by employing local labour and local sub-contractors for those parts we can't make in-house.  For example our metalwork is bashed and painted by fabricators just along the road, not only minimising our carbon footprint but supporting our local commitment.

Businesses write thousands of words on this subject (which is all good for PR).  We like to keep things simple and summarise in one paragraph here:-

Slavery was abolished throughout the British Empire with the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833. That same year the Factory Act prohibited Child Labour.  Some two centuries on, these laws have been expanded and added to covering all kinds of worker exploitation.  Beyond (obviously) obeying all national laws and regulations, we go further by not trading with (be it selling to or procuring from) anyone knowingly engaged with or supporting such exploitative practice.

There are exceptions to this rule, because as every parent knows, the only reason we have children is to have them clean the family car on a Saturday, but this is taken as payback for all the school journeys, football clubs, dance classes, McDonalds etc.…

About Us

“In the beginning - we started with an idea and some great software”

The Company started in 1980 as a software design bureau offering bespoke solutions to Aviation, Marine, Military and Industry on platforms as varied as the IBM 370 mainframe right down to the (then new) IBM PC.  The company quickly established a reputation for innovative software that was reliable, on time and on budget.

“then we added some great hardware”

Scroll forward some twenty years and hardware design and manufacturing had been added to our portfolio with the same ethos for innovation, reliability and value for money.

“Great products made in Great Britain” - our motto

Along the way we’ve made a lot of products that have become Industry Standard, some we sell exclusively through Distributors, and some we sell directly. The majority of things we make are for other people (and as such not found on this website), embedded deep within our clients own products, or even entirely badged for them.

“an all round Design Bureau - we turn ideas into reality”

Whether it’s a Control System, item of equipment, plant, sub-assembly, module or even just a component, at heart, we’re a bunch of engineers, and we like nothing better than starting with a blank sheet of paper, and following that through into your finished product.
